Here at BGB Group Global, we’re used to being seen as a newcomer in the offshore scaffolding. After all, our company was founded less than twenty years ago. But like all the biggest and best rising stars, we’ve risen rapidly through the ranks for all the right reasons. 

BGB has got where it is today through sheer hard work and dedication to our clients, because we refuse to accept anything less. That’s how, in less than two decades, we’ve grown to become a truly global offshore scaffolding and access company, covering all four corners of the globe.

Humble beginnings, solid principles

BGB was started by Ben Badham back in 2007 with just £15,000, a storage container and a pick-up truck. From the start, Ben insisted on the highest standards of safety and service as he grew his scaffolding business with local house builders, commercial and industrial clients. 

Ben built his team using the dedication of family members and the trained, focused approach of former military personnel. Many of that original team still work for the business today, alongside second-generation team members from the same families.

Rapid growth, international renown

Just three years after Ben started the business, he got his first call from Dong Energy, the company that would become Ørsted, the world’s largest offshore wind developer. The request to help with offshore scaffolding for their Walney Extension Project was a unique opportunity, and Ben and his team seized it with both hands.

The initial call may have been a stroke of luck, but the outcome was anything but lucky. By getting the job right first time, working efficiently and effectively, BGB showed straight away how useful a partner they could be. 

By the end of 2010, just three years after it was founded, BGB teams were working on every single Ørsted project worldwide. As Ørsted has grown, BGB has grown with them, becoming a trusted supply chain partner on projects across the world, from Taiwan to Rhode Island.

BGB has been a key supplier to the offshore wind sector from the start, and we have been learning with each and every new contract. We have grown alongside the industry, gaining a deep understanding of what our clients need from us, and we’ve developed a unique service offering to match.
