The South Fork Wind project is a joint venture between Orsted and Eversource, two leading developers in the renewable energy sector. The project aims to establish a wind farm off the coast of the Northeast Coast of America, New England. South Fork will be New York’s first offshore wind farm – with 12 turbines and a state-of-the-art transmission system that will generate enough clean energy to power 70,000 average homes and offset tons of emissions each year.
BGB Renewables LLC, a trusted provider of access solutions and QHSE advisors, has been enlisted to support Orsted in ensuring safe and efficient access for various installation and commissioning activities throughout the project. BGB have worked in collaboration with local union labour to assist in completing the project work scope.
The construction phase of the project involves the installation of the offshore substation, array and export cables, accessing transformers and shunt reactors and completion of many other scopes of work which are required to complete commissioning and construction of the offshore substation. BGB will be responsible for providing access solutions to facilitate these activities, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the installation process. Additionally, the company will provide safe access and egress for the walk-to-work operations, ensuring the well-being of the personnel involved.
During the commissioning phase, BGB will continue to support Orsted by providing access for various electrical installation works commissioning packages. This will involve ensuring safe access for personnel and equipment, as well as facilitating the testing and termination of electrical systems.
