Project Name: Yaxley Onshore Substation
Developer: National Grid
Date: August 2023 – March 2024
Client: ECS
Scope of work: We were contracted to erect 2 scaffold to assist pulling and jointing of cables on the onshore substation.
GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear):
- The GIS acts like a giant ‘on and off’ switch. It receives the power transmitted from the offshore wind farm.
- Shunt reactors and STATCOMs (Static Synchronous Compensators) are employed to control and smooth the electricity.
Cable Sealing Ends:
- These compounds allow the safe transition of cables between overhead lines and underground cables that connect to the National Grid substation.
To complete these work we liaised with the client to design a complex bespoke scaffold to accommodate all there requirements from electric winch, trolly beams to fully encapsulation to allow works to be completely weather proofed so works could continue throughout the winter months.
We constantly continued to work with our client to accommodate all there additional requirements throughout scope from weekly scaffold inspections, ongoing adaptions to the scaffold when the scope of works changed and react dynamically when requested by the client.
Please find below some images of the work scope.
