High Voltage Sub Station & Transmission
High Voltage Sub-Stations and Transmission
As a trusted partner to some of the world’s largest renewable energy companies, BGB Group Global Ltd has extensive experience in offshore and floating substations for high voltage transmissions.
Our offshore wind access solutions provide essential support, both during construction in dry dock, and as part of the commissioning process offshore at the turbine sites. The extensive experience gained during the many projects we have helped to safely and successfully deliver around the world has helped BGB engineers to develop a wide range of specialist skills and qualifications in this area.
BGB qualifications include a silver accreditation with UVDB (powered by Achilles), the pre-qualification standard that simplifies procurement and compliance across the industry. Furthermore, all power sector staff also hold EUSR/National Grid ‘Persons’ Certificates (National Grid Electricity Contractors – EUSR), allowing them to work in sub-stations across the network.
Moving Onshore
BGB’s global offshore experience has led directly to the company extending our reach into the onshore high voltage sub-stations and transmissions sector for other forms of power beyond windfarms.
Today we are proud to work with a number of NERS registered contractors, delivering electricity infrastructure projects for some of the biggest names in the generation and delivery of power, including National Grid, Network Rail, UK Power Networks and Scottish and Southern Energy.
One such client is Energi Cable Services, who deliver high voltage cable jointing services for the National Grid. The BGB high voltage sub-stations and transmissions team supports this work in a number of ways, protecting both the infrastructure and the engineers working on it.
Within these heavily regulated areas, we need to create a safe working haven for all personnel working within the contained scaffold area and create a clinically clean area which is free of dust and external elements. To produce this environment for our clients, we have a highly trained and experienced team of scaffolders and encapsulating experts who can provide our clients with any solution they require.
Having proved our skills and safety working with high voltage systems in some of the harshest working environments, BGB have demonstrated that we are more than capable of delivering the same high standards onshore.
We look forward to expanding this area of our business, in partnership with NERS contractors. Together we will help to deliver the updates and upgrades that the UK energy grid urgently needs to meet our power requirements both today and in the future.
