World Earth Day
Earth Day is all about raising awareness of environmental issues and celebrating the countless projects across the world that are working to reduce the impact of people on our planet.
Here at BGB Group Global Ltd, we’re proud to be playing our part in many of those projects, taking on the fight against climate change by supporting the renewable energy industry around the world.
By harnessing the carbon-free energy of wind power, the projects BGB helps to build and maintain are actively cutting the amount of fossil fuels burned to produce electricity. This in turn reduces the carbon emissions that trap heat and contribute to the global warming that we are experiencing all too often in extreme weather events across the globe.
BGB Group Global are key partners in some of the largest wind energy projects on the planet, including:
- Hornsea 2, which contributes to power more than 1.4 million UK homes
- Changhau Offshore Wind project which helps to supply over a million homes in Taiwan
- The Vineyard and South Fork, the first two commercial-scale offshore windfarms in the US
By providing high quality, flexible, proven offshore wind access solutions, BGB Group Global is working to make these pioneering projects possible. Our teams play an integral role in delivering safety for all operators, from construction teams to maintenance engineers and inspectors.
A Global Leader
BGB’s partnership with the multinational renewable energy giants has cemented the company’s position as a leader in the clean energy services sector, as managing director, Ben Badham explains: “Our growth, both in the UK and overseas, is in line with government targets to generate 30% of green electricity from offshore energy sources by 2030,” he says.
BGB also takes a long-term view of renewable energy, ensuring that key skills and experience needed to create and maintain these systems are passed on for future use. “We are committed to training the next generation of multi-disciplined technicians,” says Ben, “particularly for offshore renewable energy contracts.”
As the challenging national and international targets of the Paris Agreement draw closer, BGB Global Group is constantly expanding to meet the growing needs of the sector. Doubling in size in recent years, the Chester-based group now has branches in Rhode Island, USA as well as Taichung City, Taiwan, with operations in Europe and Australia.
